Pinheiral and LGPD: Data protection with Sebrae's support
With Sebrae/RJ's support, Pinheiral is building its LGPD governance, training staff and beginning to map processes that handle personal data.
Voices depend on your browser and device; some require internet access. Code blocks are not read aloud.
When people use a public service, they share information about their lives: their name, taxpayer ID, address and, in some cases, health data. Taking care of that information is also part of providing a good service.
Pinheiral is moving forward with this work through technical consultancy from Sebrae/RJ. In a publication dated July 9, 2026, the city government confirmed the support for implementing Brazil's General Personal Data Protection Law, known as LGPD. The work includes guidance for the data protection officer, reviewing the compliance plan, analyzing processes and training municipal staff.
The local framework includes Decree No. 3,910 of March 17, 2026, which regulates the General Privacy and Data Protection Policy. It establishes responsibilities and procedures for the administration's use of information.
In September, the city government reported concrete progress: an appointed data protection officer, established Strategic and Focal Groups, an action plan under way and a defined data inventory template. Mapping the processes that use personal data had also begun.
That care needs to become part of everyday work. The training held on August 31 covered password protection, two-factor authentication, caution with links and attachments, document storage and secure disposal. These practices help reduce unnecessary exposure, both on computers and on paper.
Education also has a place on Pinheiral Digital, with content and quizzes about LGPD, responsible use of AI in public service and internet safety for children. The institutional LGPD page identifies those responsible and lists the contact address lgpd@pinheiral.rj.gov.br.
The compliance process remains under way, with information gathering and reviews of working practices. For citizens, the goal is for their data to be used with a clear purpose, controlled access and respect for privacy. I see this as an essential part of modernization: making services more efficient and strengthening the trust of the people who use them.
